Our Condo Sells, Escaping a Legal Nightmare, January 2025
How I Survived Two Years of Unjust Payments and Endless Court Battles
Our condo finally closed in January 2025, which allowed me to stop making mortgage and HOA payments. However, the situation leading up to this has been incredibly difficult. In March 2023, Maria had me removed from the house by the police and changed the locks. She then lied to a judge, claiming I had promised to pay her mortgage even though I wasn’t living there. As a result, I was barred from my own home for nearly two years and forced to continue paying the mortgage and HOA fees for Maria during that time.
Maria has proven herself to be manipulative and self-serving. I never should have been put in this position. She showed no regard for me as a person, viewing me only as a means to cover her expenses. Her actions have been cold, calculating, and utterly devoid of empathy.
To make matters worse, Maria took me to court twice, deliberately misinterpreting the final agreement between us. I explained that what she was demanding amounted to double-dipping—trying to get paid twice for the same thing—but she refused to listen and insisted on dragging the process through the legal system.
I’ve felt trapped in a never-ending cycle of legal battles with Maria. She refuses to compromise or find common ground. Her approach is all-or-nothing: she demands complete control and is willing to escalate conflicts indefinitely to avoid any appearance of cooperation. Her inability to reason and her willingness to destroy relationships and stability for the sake of winning is both frustrating and exhausting.
